Well so far it's been a couple long weeks of my internship and let me tell you. It's gotten better (Surprisingly.) Well the last couple times I pretty much sat there wonderingly and I kept asking myself 'Should I follow her?' and I usually don't. It seemed to me that I was unwelcome by her. Or she just hates my presents.. However, let me tell you about these pediatricians... They rock. They're super nice and they respond to my questions and they enjoy my curiosity. I spoke with one of them about the difference between baby formula and breast milk and why women should try their hardest to not convert to formula feeding.
I have quiet a few siblings so I would know the difference. Some formulas have corn syrup, molasses, and these weird ingredients that sound like they belong in the science lab. (Fact: Molasses in water helps reduce tummy aches in babies.) What I didn't know was that their are lactation classes for breast feeding women who are having problems... Who knew! According to the pediatrician, breasts are for babies and primarily for men... Awkward...
Then I met another pediatrician who started out as a nurse! She reminds me of myself because she's loud and energetic and she gets excited whenever there's a patient coming in. We got in a conversation about another grumpy MA and how she left early because one of the ladies in the front office pissed her off (really professional guys...) Then we discussed about her new front facing washer..
There is drama. Lots of it. And my question is why? It's upsetting to me that there is a certain amount of drama that should not be discussed in a pediatricians office. Ever.Literally there are kids listening to this! It's very unprofessional and immature. I thought that this internship would get me out of the high school drama but all it did was put me back in it with a bunch of adult babies. Maybe I should reconsider following the pediatricians...
