Correctional Facility Nurse

You would think I talked about this type of nurse, but I haven't.
A Correctional Facility nurse cares for the inmates in prisons, jails, and juvenile detention centers. They treat patients who deal with trauma and chronic health problems such as AIDS, Substance abuse, and mental illness. They have the advantage of choosing which inmates they would like to see.

These nurses are in high demand. The number of individuals in our nation’s correctional facilities and prisons is staggering, and it continues to grow. The millions of detainees have medical needs, just like every other citizen, and these needs must be met in a timely and professional manner. These nurses have some safety risks,  the majority of professionals in this field find their work to be just as rewarding as nurses in traditional settings.
